The Jones Memorial Airport Terminal project required a balance between architectural refinement and pre-engineered efficiency. The design called for architecturally exposed structural steel (AESS) PEMB rafters, structural steel entrance features, and parapets integrated with a standing seam roof system. The project also incorporated cold-formed metal framing (CFMF) stud walls with horizontal wall panels, adding complexity to both design and coordination.
Our detailing and fabrication teams worked closely with the design team to ensure the AESS elements met visual and structural standards. Precise modeling and shop-level coordination allowed clean transitions between mezzanine framing, parapet structures, and roof systems. The structural steel entry features were carefully detailed to connect seamlessly with the PEMB frame while maintaining architectural intent.
The finished terminal showcases elevated design within an efficient PEMB framework. The combination of exposed rafters, refined stainless features, and crisp rooflines creates a modern, high-performing facility that reflects both aesthetic sophistication and engineering precision — a fitting gateway for travelers and the community it serves.
